Chris, I want "Remember me, you hive-mind motherfucker?" on a t-shirt. "That fat one is gonna kill him an' eat him up" being only slightly less marketable.
Dan, did you model 718 on Mos Def? I see the inevitable silver screen adaptation as a likely vehicle for him. The Hasid at the end, on the other hand, definitely resembles you if you go all born again on us.
OK, I'm insomniac, wake up to check my iTunes downloads and got your email. Thereby going from "Schoolhouse Rock" to this. Oddly, now I feel like I'm trapped in a time warp of 1985 New York.
Congrats man -- and that Hasid really does look like you :-)
My one suggestion is to pull the frame out for at least one panel during action sequences. You're introducing a shitload of characters at once and it'll be eaier to follow them all if you show a "relationship shot" (all characters in fight in the same panel). This is different from the establishing shot, which you don't need since you already set the scene.
What Nick said about "relationships." Action sequences are a bitch when you have more than two people to establish. Bone up on your Woo and Scorcese, hell, even DePalma has a lot to offer [after all, he ripped off the master of staging, Hitchcock].
Despite the jumbly confusions of characters suddenly appearing [you could fix that by adding a splash page to show where everyone is sitting and standing before the first attack] this hive-mind stuff is truly savage. The conceit that violence creates a ripple [domino] effect is compelling, but add an infectious quality to the chaos [electric graffiti] and then FEED off its pain? Well, that's just evil. An evil 718 must abolish post-haste!
All will be revealed in the next 15 pages... this is just the online premiere of the first issue of a much longer series. Glad you're intrigued; we're more formally introducing our main players in the coming weeks.
This is really nice looking. I really like the visual style - it definitely captures that feeling of riding the above ground orange-line - well, without all the fighting and possession going on - I've never experienced that. Actually, I barely ever go on that subway, so maybe I'm wrong, maybe that kind of stuff happens all the time...
